THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH COOKIE JARS

I read an interesting quote by Oswald Chambers this morning.

"The good is always the enemy of the best".

Several years ago I hit burnout. I was super involved at my church: women's ministry, children's ministry, youth ministry, choir. I even worked in the nursery once a month. I had my hand in every spiritual cookie jar I could find. I even worked full time at a Christian school. A light commitment here, a teensie commitment there and before I knew it I had filled my schedule with so many good things I began to wonder why I was so exhausted all the time. My days were filled with good things. I was serving on boards, I was volunteering time on meaningful projects, I was working my tail off to be good. I was surrounded by Christians, but I was missing it. I was missing HIM. I was sacrificing the BEST life for a GOOD life. I'm working on that now, but it's still a challenge for me. It's hard for me to say no to the good.

Matthew 7:13- Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
