"WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY"

Old Uncle Ben sure said a mouthful when he said "With great power comes great responsibility." Believe it or not, this concept is actually in the Bible. Really. I read it this morning. It says, "...From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and for the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
If you're a mom or dad, you definitely know this is true. Suddenly somehow you are given this new little life to nurture and protect and you have this great power to influence his life in ways you cannot even begin to dream about now. And the responsibility just seems to grow with each new amazing thing your little tyke figures out how to master. You suddenly realize that life is not all about you, and you're kind of relieved and terrified all at once.
I think in America we forget how much we've been entrusted with, and we've lost grip on the concept that we should be accountable for how we use it. We are considered the financially elite of the world, and yet most of us trudge through our day living paycheck to paycheck not giving a thought as to why we're really here on the planet.
I know many of my readers don't really believe in a 'Creator', but you know I do, so just humor me for a minute as I lay down this concept that has been rolling around in my brain this morning. If I was created with certain abilities, certain strengths, wouldn't it follow that I was designed to actually use them? How do I put this into practice? It's just a thought; one I am really grappling with this morning. I don't want the sum of my days to just equal survival. I want them to count for something. So how do I do it?
