SCRIPT FRENZY DAY 22 part 2
I realized that before I introduce you to Mr. Perfect, you've missed some scenes. Here's one....
INT. VIOLET’S APARTMENT - EARLY EVENING
Violet, Samson and Sergio are in the apartment. Sergio is
holding a pizza box and Samson is helping Violet set the
table.
SERGIO
(sniffing the box)
What is this amazing smell I am
smelling? Do we get to eat this?
VIOLET
Pizza. It’s pizza. I know I’ve
never written pizza into any of
your plots before.
SERGIO
Well, you should have, mi amor. I
did not know such a wonderful thing
existed.
VIOLET
Listen guys. Sit down. Before we
eat I need to talk to you about
something.
SAMSON
What is it darlin’?
VIOLET
My deadline for the next book is
coming soon.
SAMSON
Yep. Can’t wait to see where I’m
gonna be next.
VIOLET
No, see, that’s what I want to talk
to you about. Now that you’re both
REAL I just don’t feel right. I
can’t go ahead with the manuscript.
I need to change it.
SERGIO
What do you mean change it? Like
change the woman? I think a redhead
would be nice for a change.
SAMSON
Yeah, that’s a good idea. We
haven’t had a redhead in a while.
VIOLET
No. No. See, I think I’m going to
give the new story to the new guy.
Both men gasp.
SAMSON
The new guy?
SERGIO
He’s not even fully developed yet.
Look at his card! It is blank, mi
amor. You call him Mr. Perfect
because you don’t even know his
name yet. You haven’t even picked
his hair!
VIOLET
That’s why I have to use him. I
need to crank this book out and get
it off my desk. And then I’m taking
a sabbatical from the Romance
business. I’ll pick it back up once
the contest is over.
SAMSON
I don’t get it.
VIOLET
See, I’ve been thinking about this
a lot. And I think that you two
came to life because...well I don’t
know why...but you have been so
real to me. And Mr. Perfect is not
a fully developed character. I just
have these strong vague impressions
of him. And that should be enough
to plug him into the writing
formula, but not enough to bring
him to life. And I don’t want to be
writing this story about Samson
while the real Samson is here in
Ashland trying to figure out his
life. It’s just creepy. Does that
make sense?
Long pause while the two men stare blankly at her.
SAMSON AND SERGIO
No.
VIOLET
Ok. Then I’m going to ask you to
just trust me. Can you do that?
SERGIO
Of course.
SAMSON
I can do that.
VIOLET
Ok then. Let’s eat.
